Come to where basketball was invented in 1891! Dedicated, patient coaches use age-appropriate drills designed to teach essential skills in a fun environment. Volunteers are an essential part of the YMCA basketball program.
Players in this youth basketball league continue to build skills like dribbling, shooting, passing and begin learning basketball plays through fun drills. We practice once per week and play games on weekends, including home games and games against other YMCAs in the region. Teams are single-gender and led by volunteer coaches.
The skill development sessions will be taught by current varsity basketball coaches James LaMacchia (Oswego) and Jay Adams (Central Square), along with veteran Oswego JV coach Bob Connelly. The coaching staff brings more than 60 years of coaching experience including high school, AAU, and travel basketball.
The YMCA Fall Basketball season will begin October 30, 2021, with practices beginning the week of October 18. Basketball & Volleyball is played during the fall season in Iowa. Early Bird Registration (Save $10): August 23-September 6; Regular Registration: September 7-27 *All sports will wear the gray & black OrthoNebraska jerseys released in 2020.
